Guys,

I dont know if I am going to be here, I may be in Bahrain visiting family. So I think we should get someone else involved in the software and scoring thing. Nothing confirmed yet but I will keep you all updated.

I can help Eric with the co-ordination of the event. Please be aware that the owner of Hobby-Center Al-Ain is going to start charging for the use of the facilities in the future. He has paid the rent for the track for the last year and would like to put more money into getting it a bit more 'active' I dont see this as a bad thing and hopefully he wont charge too much. He would like to see more facilities and possibly opening a small shop with some race spares available for the day.
For the event on the 19th, he was asking about a charge for entrance and I agree that it is a good idea ONLY if it is managed well, prizes are available and there are people to see that classes are maintained. I suggested that anything over AED30 entrance fee, per class for a day's competition would not be viable. He also offered to build a bridge for the timing gear, one that will cover the whole track.
The guys were mentioning that Jun (Tama-ka) has some timing gear the same as ours, including some transponders, can someone ask him so we can confirm. We can then share the equipment that I have, with his, and hopefully we will have enough.

I have 4 bridge sensors and 7 transponders.

Form a CLASS perspective I think we should continue with what we have from a Dubdrift perspective, and incorporate it with Nitro...

Classes as follows

Mini Mayhem
Silvercan, rubber tires, 7.4V limit, 20T pinion on stock gearing, no chassis mods

GT-Mayhem
23T Brushed 13T Brushless and higher motor, 4WD chassis, FDR no less than 5.8, rubber tires, no chassis mods

GT-Outlaw
Complete madness, anything goes

If it is going to be prizes, no-one is allowed to transgress the rules and an inspection needs to be done prior to each race, random cars will be selected throughout the day for inspection, even after racing.

Thanks for the update Andy, I think keeping the classes the way they are is the best.....prevents confusion and generally makes everyones life easier!

Race entry fee is only fair, especially if there prizes! laughing

After visiting hobby zone yesterday it looks like i should be able to make this meet, as long as they get the rest of my bits that i ordered in time.

What class will my Yokomo SD fit into? Its a one piece chassis, will be running a sports tuned motor. It wasnt the ready set basic SD model so its running proper difs, shocks, bearings etc etc.

Will this fit into GT Mayhem class? I dont want to stick in a silly big motor and drop into the Outlaw class as i havent raced for years!

Tractorboy, not sure about that chassis, but I believe it will go into the GT mayhem class quite well. You will need to check your final drive ratio and get it to about 6 or just a little lower....as a racer I assume you know how to do that.... smile
I say FDR of 6, because beyond that, you will overheat the Sport Tuned...

Lets keep it that way, if you want to run something more powerful you can enter it into the GT Outlaw class! twisted evil

Guys,

I'm in for the 19-th, running the 23T brushed motor, which is the GT-Mayhem, right?!
bounce

Concerning the rules, my remark:
- What about the 10.5T brushless which is equal to 19T brushed motor. Will this fit in the GT Mayhem as well? rolling eyes
- Duration of 1 heat = 5 minutes = qualification = final rolling eyes

With regards to the charge for the use of the track, as I understood, this is for the future (as discussed with the owner). And ussualy realization of plans do take a while in the UAE.
Contribution is required to maintain the track and therefore he need to establish a RC-club with memberships:
- The track will be refurbished with nicely painted curbs, new asphalt coating, etc. This is not the case at this time.
- For the planned event at the 19-th, he (if he is informed in time) will charge a small contribution for the race because with that money, he will provide prices for that day. Also he will prepare the track by cleaning it the day before and we will have access to the compressed air.

Carthurga - Thanks that shouldnt be a problem, i wouldnt have thought the ST motor would be cut out for much, and like i said i need to take things easy to begin with. So i wont be gearing it for high speeds, need to get back in the game before i can do that.

Paul - ill make it one way or another, im about 90% sure i will be racing. Biggest concern is getting round these Lipo Chargers, ive got one with far too many options
