PostTouring Car, Mini & Drift - All in Al Ain

Hey guys,

We were talking on Saturday about having an away meet at the track in Al Ain. I know we all enjoy the Movenpick area, but it would be an opportunity to get a bit of track time on a purpose built track, not only that, it might be a nice trip for families that want to get out of Dubai since the weather is so good.

Our good friend Bandit knows the people who run/manage the track so I will ask him for the details and set something up. But it would be good to plan ahead so that we can get organised...

Something like this.

Depart DXB -09h00
Set-up - 10h30
Tourer time - 11h00 - 11h30
Drift time - 11h30 - 1200
LUNCH - 12h00 - 12h45
Mini Mayhem - 12h45 - 13h30

Repeat as necessary, or people that want to go see Al-Ain and surrounds with family...

and then go home, or play until we are sick of it or have broken everything....

Anyway, timings are just a suggestion/guideline, we could expand on that.

I am not sure what facilities are available, but maybe we could have a BBQ there if possible and meet up with some of the Al-Ain racers/drifters and the Abu Dhabi guys could join in too!

Maybe after the Eid weekend, or before if we can get it sorted out...

In the interim I will make contact with the right people and see whats up.

Who's keen?

hi there sir Andy, sad to say im not there to enjoy with you guys, but ill be happy to help you to arrange the venue, or you can coordinate also with "Sir Jhun AKA" TAMAKA KUMAKUBA he knows also the owner of the track Mr. Saeed the owner of Hobby Center in Al-Ain great guy also, they will provide you with Electricity there to charge your batteries and Tables also i think you can make your lunch there also, the place is big, race track is awesome.

i will give you an idea how big is the track is. my first run on my standard kit.

Man, that track looks cool. I will defo request Mr Saeed's info...

I think we would need some 'rules' for the touring and mini class...specifically motor..I suggest "quick-silver class" in other words - stock silver can. That way we are all at similar speeds and can have some close racing and not destroy the cars.

Drifters will not need any restrictions as drifting is not about the speed.

Bandit, that TT-01 on stock looks quick enough, it didn't seem like you were opening it up in most places...and you are of course a PRO :-)

aaryan, I think the 6th might be short notice for most, I was thinking 1st week of Dec, but I am keen to hear some report back from you guys after your meet on the 6th.
From a drifting perspective, is the track not too big to drift on? It would take ages to get around it.....

hahaha! im not a pro im an Adik! 19/61 pinion/spur im using, that was my fourth friday on practice. the motor im using is Mabuchi.

i would suggest on a TT01 Class, using the 5.72 FDR or 25/55 gear and the motor would be silver can. battery is open.

now guys its time to make your ultimate TT01 on the run! it's time to buy a Protoform Bodies...LOL!!!

Protoform bodies are functional but they look bloody awful......like a smartly painted, aerodynamic, upside-down jelly-mould :-)

LOL! but they surely make your run stable. haha...they are made to race...ive used some of the bodies but it affects a lot on my run. less down force less aerodynamics. but on a protoform it will give you all...

@J, yeah was thinking about the Eid holidays, but I think there might be people taking leave at that time, also, if they have organised races there, it will be done over Eid.
I will most CERTAINLY tell the non-active mini guys....
If you have a look at the video, there is a MASSIVE tarred area that looks like it would be great for drifting....

@Jdrift, you can bring an x-ray, in fact, I would suggest ANY tourer platform, as long as it has a mabuchi/johnson silver can of 27T. Even the ESC does not need to be limited, those motors can only draw so much current. I would even suggest it is open to 2WD and 4WD if anyone has FWD cars. I have seen on another site where they have a Quicksilver tourer class and the guys have a lot of fun and the racing is close and even.

Another idea I was thinking was if they have floodlights there, we could do an afternoon/evening event, and a BBQ afterwards....could be a great day out!
