oh..... do tell. What's the surface like? Any action down there with regard to setting up? I was wondering if anyone would actually send us any location information map etc. Is it hard to find. I'm likely to be getting back from Saudi late that first day, so it would be great if I knew where to go!
Its really easy to find, if you know how to get to motorcity/autdrome then all you have to do is find the management office and the site is behind there.
I will be posting the latest event status sometime this weekend. Registrations are now closed.
There will also be a guide on procedures for the day which you will all be required to follow.
Something you should know up front, is that there will be a staging area where everyones cars will need to be placed and switched OFF. Only when your race is up, will you be allowed to get your car, switch it on and proceed to the grid. After your race, the car goes BACK to the staging area and you will go to marshall. Only between rounds will you be allowed to work on your vehicle....
There will be NO access to chargers so you need to bring batteries to last the races you are in.
One battery per car will be more than enough per evening. If you dont have one battery per car you will either need to reduce the number of classes you are entering, borrow a battery or make a plan. These rules will be in place from a SAFETY perspective.
The Nitro guys will be getting a seperate set of rules for the containment of fuels in a no smoking area.
EVERYONE will be expected to marshall. Outside volunteers were going to be supplied but due to the nature of racing, YOU understand what needs to be done in the event of a marshall intervention, YOU are aware of the dangers of oncoming cars and it is a courtesy as we dont have professional marhsalls. I assume all of you are ok with this. Lastly, and you will get more rules...LOL.....if you are late, or ill-prepared, you will be EXCLUDED from the heat. You can enter the next one, but if you are not ready, nobody will wait for you.
Watch your email accounts, more info is en-route!!
why would there be no charging access on a race track? its one of the prime features we need during the event. specially on friday which we will be racing the whole day.
i would suggest that a charging area is a must, not everyones got enough batteries to lasts the whole evening like me.
we should take this as an opportunity and run our cars to the fullest and enjoy a 4 day non-permanent track and not be limited due to lack of charging access.
I have requested at least one charging station, but it will be limited. If things change, will let you know.
If you are entered in 4 classes (Drift, GT, Mini & GT-Mod) you could have a bit of a problem. Right now though, the most registrations is for 3 classes. And I know those people have sufficient batteries.
Friday is the reason I am pushing, although not everyone is going to reach the finals
I have included as many opportunities for people to get as much racing as possible, even a wildcard for the finals.
If you had entries in 2 classes, the MAXIMUM racing time on Friday will be 15 minutes per class. (excluding drift)
Whatever happens, use of electricity to charge will be supervised. Safety is a major concern. I have seen firsthand an abused Lipo at Al-Ain.....
I dont believe anything has been done about getting demo vehicles for the general public to try out.....which is one reason why we would need chargers.
I understand your frustration J, but bear in mind, this will NOT be a free run event like at Al-Ain where you just walk out onto the track and run whenever you like,.....
Thats one reason why I dont like lipos.. Im afraid of them. Now non-lipo guys would have to suffer too. Its not gonna be racing all night of cours, we should have free practice runs, you dont just go and race on a new track. So one battery per car isnt really enough.
I say put the charging area in a safe place far from everyone is the best answer.. not to exclude it. I have 3 nicd batteries 1 just died recently so now I have 2 batteries for 3 kits.. will try to get 1 this weekend.. if approved!
I will be busy the whole night as marshall anyways. Now lets make this happen and have fun!!!
Andy if theres an open slot please let me be the first one to get in the race
You on the other hand will be the one that will definitely not enter any of the classes not just because you are faster than me but your the official lap timer of the event lol
