points will be carried on to the finals Sam.. so if you miss one race day you dont get a point and might not make it to the finals. So daily participation will surely rank you up
i honestly dont think everyone is going to be able to make all the days (especially when it comes to the qualifing days)......i would suggest using best qualifing times over the 3 days to determine finals....or use the top 2 or something....
anyhow from the race flow andy sent last night - it still looks like the qualifing sessions will only determine which heat you race and who you race against (but everyone will get to race on the final day - @andy thats what you said on saturday right?) - that way everyone has a chance to race in the final irrespective of what heat they start in.....correct me if i'm wrong here....
either way this point sytem, qualifing needs to communicated to everyone - so racer know what is required from them in term of attendance etc.....

Great...........wish it was a daily race. As i might have to fly out for work.
For some not attending the daily race gives us a chance to join some races lol a lot of the guys applied for a local leave just to attend the whole event Sam.

I guess its the only way to urge everyone to attend the event daily Paul.. drivers presence helps make the event a success.
There will be small prizes for poduim positions on the first 3 days anyways.
I agree getting attendees is important - but from talking to various people on saturday, people are under the impression that they dont need to be there every night......and some cant be there everynight.....

@Andy,
can we get an explaination of the points sytem/qualifing system to see how it works?

An email regarding the points system should be sent to all entrants. But i guess with a fixed number of 10 registered entrants per class, everyone we'll be racing on the last day lol
I have to agree with everyone really....... It's important to encourage attendance, but it's not really realistic to expect 4 hrs from everyone each night, plus the Friday. I'm going to try to make it each night, but will probably miss the 2nd heat on Thursday night due to other commitments. I think maybe some flexibility would be nice and as Paul suggested best x number of the 7 heats to count. I'd suggest best 4? That guarantee's people would have to attend at least 2 night during the week to get 4 heats. Maybe even best 5.
Anyway......this is all a learning process and I'm sure the next big event will be a lot easier......let's hope there are more to come.
Correct me if i'm wrong does the advrt on automodex rc challenge say 100 per car/ category. So if one is participating in Mini and GT that will be 200 rite ??
I understand the concern about the points, and the attendance thing. Unfortunately, a 4 day event is a RARITY in any RC world, unless it is a championshis, season ending finale, and THAT is normally over 2 days.
As J says, there will be small prizes on each day, so we will have some 'winners' but there will only be 2 races per class, per evening as 4 hours is NOT enough time to have an event....
The points system is going to be based on best times, as well as number of events participated in. Essentially your TOP 4 times will be used to calculate the finals.....this will be a MANUAL points calculation. What this means is that if you are there 2 days, and race 2 races in your class you have 4 top times....the guy who is there 4 days and races 8 races will also only have his top 4 times used to calculate his place. This will be done on a BEST AVERAGE, not BEST LAP or OVERALL times. One simple rule is that anyone who does not finish 75% of a race, will have those times rejected and this is to make sure people stay on the track,as well as a measure of your ENDURANCE.....I will make this clear as we go along, and in the meetings.
I do request that you treat this as a FUN EVENT, as there have been MANY teething problems on the way, but it is ALL for your benefit.
Also consider that this is a FUNDRAISING event, the proceeds of which are all going to Dubai Autism Center, including your entry. As such, the prizes are not elaborate and are there to thank you for being a part of the event, and to show your support for Dubai Autism Center.
Bugger, i thought we only had to make it down for 1 qualification round. I work till 8pm every night in Ajman. I have booked one early finish, but i cant get away early every night as it will effect my work.
Does this mean i cant race on Friday? Or will it mean that ill just end up in the B finals? Im not really concerned about winning/losing i just want to race!
