PostSubject: Tamiya lunch box from rc mart duty?   Sun Mar 07, 2010 12:04 am

I'm going to order a lunch box from rc mart. And the price for the lunch box and everything i need hits 459dhs (plus 139 for shipping) So will i get any duty? I've heard that you get duty if the package goes for more then 500dhs. But is there still a chance that i will get duty?

that's right samaj. Anything above $200 you get to pay customs duties unless they're lazy enough to bother checking your items.

Actually, for personal goods the duty is 5% only if the value of the goods goes over US$275 or AED1000. RCmart normally dont declare full value..

Well......you shouldnt have to, but sometimes the guy on duty decides you should.....remember...it is for personal use....and when asked how much it is worth...a nonchalant "I dunno sir, maybe AED200"....and he hands over the parcel...

Besides....5% is only AED20 or so....no biggie...
