PostNew Tamiya Releases - Upcoming Shizuouka Show

Scheduled to be released in July 2010. It will share parts with the TA05, and will be a high end drift chassis.

Price is a little too steep though, convert it from Yen to USD and see the $500-550 badge yourself.

Here is some more information...

Haha.
Make peace...not war.
=P

But Abdul does have a point.
A low ride height is great for touring.
But to implement that same idea in an off-road terrain is stupid.

Yes, I said it.
Tamiya is starting to become stupid.
...or I'm stating to hate Tamiya.

You know, there's a reason why the Traxxas Slash has more than 2cm of ground clearance, and why 1:1 SUVs have so much clearance...

You need good clearance when you're going to be offroading, and lot's of damper action too... With regards to my TT01ERA, it has good clearance actually, but it's the small wheel size that kills the fun. If I could give it more ride height, I won't need bigger wheels, but there is only so much I can do without screwing the drivetrain.

The M05 is an even smaller car, any lose dirt, and the wheels will sink into it, so to make a successfull rally mini requires a whole lot more work then just adding rally tires....

I dont think tamiya designed the df03ra and the m05ra to be used on tracks meant for short courae trucks or buggies and truggies.

I agree with ian, use a kit for its intended purpose, you will have fun.

i think their not going to place the M05ra on a track for the 1:8 buggies. . . I'm sure theres going to be a track specifically for the Mini rally. . . as seen here

its not going to be more on sand, but more on rugged dried soil . . . . . with humps and everything. . .

and it's quite popular in Australia. . . . .

I don't think Tamiya is starting to be stupid. . . . but i know who is. . . . . but i'm not telling

very happy juk juk juk

Points well brought out.
Use something as it is designed for and you'll never go wrong.

Ever tried eating soup with a fork?

Preference.

That's a bit below the belt sir Richard.

@As for the rest.
You don't have to eat what Tamiya feeds you.
They're more focused on making a profit, and all we can say is "Yeeeyy" .
So please stop turning a blind eye to that.
Recycling old ideas...some of which came from other manufacturers.
Where's the innovation in that...

M-chassis on solid road is perfect.
Put the same chassis on soft sandy off-road terrain and might as well throw you money to the needy.
Imagine a VW beetle competing with 4wd rally cars....that's ri-donk-culous.

A great idea would be to make the M-chassis have 'optional' longer arms. (Just life the DF03)
And that would look fugly, right?
But who cares? You don't mind throwing your money away to tamiya right? =)

Preference.

That is the magic word here.

One can say eeww and yuck all he wants but one cannot force or stop somebody to or from getting what you prefer to have.

'Common sense' should be the appropriate word.
Abdul and I were just stating out that the chassis is a bit too low to be a proper off-roader.

Seriously, we can't just say "hey, here's something new we can try" without taking a <cough> professional </cough> look at the situation.

I will agree to one thing though.
Yes, they did make the kit for a reason.....To take your money.

I'm not stopping anyone from getting anything.
I'm just throwing personal opinions. It's your choice to take it in or not.

hahaha!

that one made me laugh.

Now, seriously, if you knew your car has a very little clearance, would you take it out on loose sand?

Hehe.

Definitely not.
Let's ask Tamiya the same question.

But I guess we'll only have an answer once the kit is on the store shelves.

Now this is when "common sense" steps in.

After preference that is.

ayayayay... you guys OT! dont argue!

i like the FF03 and i will not use it for offroad.

i like the ta05 VDF and i will not use it for touring.

smile i'll be watching these two kits at rcmart smile

i will use my DF-01 cayenne for offroad and drift and dont argue! smile

but hey, there is no harm in experimenting with your kit... as long as its your money thats been taken away ayt?!! smile

How can 'common sense' come second when making a decision?

Well, getting back to the topic.

@Sir Ian
You'll be better off with HB's TC-D.
The VDF just isn't worth the price tag.
That's just my opinion
Your money = your decision
