PostSubject: Strawb - XEVO Project - Mini Xtreme Build thread   Thu Jun 10, 2010 3:17 pm

Got my Xevo Conversion kit for the Tamiya M-chassis and loads of Tamiya Hop-up parts which i researched for 2 weeks just to complete everything for this project ......

there are 2 avenues to go about this build ....

1. Buy a Xevo Conversion Kit and take apart your old M-chassis
2. Buy a Xevo Conversion Kit and Buy all the Hop-ups you can find so you won't have regrets on forgetting anything for your build .....

i took number 2 ...... thanks to JJ Driftshop of course ......

the packaging for the Xevo was simple ...... you wouldn't even think that you could build a new chassis out of it ...... the parts itself are of good quality ..... machine engineered and everything is spot-on when it comes to holes aligned together .....

newbies will have a bit of difficulty in building the xevo as to because the instruction manual which comes with it is not that useful ..... plus there are things which you install and fix different from how you would install in a regular M-chassis .....

anyways .... i'll add details as i post pictures ..... im probably at 50% of the build now and will update this thread as i progress ......

my estimate is i'll have the Xevo up and running by tomorrow ..... so here are some pics of whats at hand for now .....

goodies from JJ driftshop

Xevo simple package

progress pics as of 2pm today ....

TRF shocks still need to be assembled and installed ... view from the rear

right universal shaft is assembled but i have not installed yet .... i need 2 more 1050 bearings .....

good i got extras ....

Xevo logo located in the right motor bulk head

left side ..... uni's installed ....

thats it for now .......

Wow, that kit is a much nicer looking build than I thought.

I am building a short wheel base 13T Brushless M03 for Al Ain.

I am really looking forward to seeing how these two cars compare.

Duane.

Chalk and cheese I would imagine, although a well thought out std mini, in the right hands will be a contender. I reckon the main difference will be in the slop inherent in normal mini's, they tend to wander on the straights, if the XEVO doesnt battle with that, it will win surely...

wow, very nice kit strawb, cant wait to see it run and crash, i mean clash with standard minis, with the same motor that is... very happy

well, continue the build, i know your enjoying it...

too much though that you have to cut (class) work to build it laughing

congrats clapping

Realistically the Zevo should kill the M03 just through the motor placement, but we will see.

I am off to Saudi tomorrow but once I get back and collect my parts from JJ its game on.

I might also build a stock M03 with friction shocks just to see if all the money we spend makes any difference - lots of time on my hands, the family are away for 8 weeks from tomorrow.
