I thought that these 'red dot' silver cans had been tuned (tampered with) by someone and then resold onto the market. Many clubs ban them.

Hmmnn..

I'm not too sure.

This is what I was referring to as a "red dot" silver can

Notice the polarity indicator (red dot) on the motor..

The one from Johnson comes with a white dot as well as the other Mabuchi motor with a really shiny can since their endbells were black and a white dot would be easily seen.

Hmmmm

After quick inspection of all silver can in house, I can confirm they both have red dot. One each of mabuchi and johnson.
The one's here http://vortec.defmondo.com/?q=node/29 both have white dot.

I don't think it means anything.......
They are all the same......
except some are shinier than others and some have red or white dots........ dntknw

Yep.. I think we all agree that there is no evident difference between these types of silver cans. You just have to pray that you get lucky with your purchased motor and have a "better than normal" silver can.

@Abdul, when you're breaking-in your motor, make sure the whole "area" of the brush is touching the commutator before you stop. It's what other people call "bedding" as from what I've read in other sites. It makes the motor draw more power and will actually help your motor run smoother and last longer. It works for me.
