| The first mod that i plan to do on my car TA05 is to powder coat all metal parts/aluminum, because I dont like the usual available color which is light blue(no offense but this color looks gay to me). I want my own mix of color... atleast to make my car a bit unique. So does anyone here knows a shop who can do the powder coating for these small parts? I know there's a book called yellowpages, but it saves the hassles if info will come from here TIA |

| Not to rain on your parade here, but powder coating those parts is not going to be possible I dont think. The powder coating process requires a fairly thick application of the material and I am pretty sure it will not stick well to aluminium parts, you can try though.
If you really dont like the blue, you can remove it, it is anodised in most cases so you can spray it with some oven cleaner and it will come off to plain silver/alloy |

| Andy's correct it will never work. Got some steel wheels powered coated in the UK, and the coat applied is really thick. |

| I meant that if you spray oven cleaner on an anodised part and leave it for about 5 mins, it will REMOVE the anodising, and you will be left with a silver part. I think all the metal parts on Tamiya cars (modern ones anyway) are anodised aluminium,.....so your choices are blue or silver, really.. |

| yeah right, I might just stripped off that blue-ish gay color. Chrome appearance is nice too IMO. I have all types of buffing soap and a dremmel for polishing my guns making them shine like chrome. The problem is...this wont work with aluminum as it will oxidize in time and will become dull again. maybe i will just polish the metal parts to a chrome finish and anodize the aluminum parts and dye. But again, no shops will cater the anodizing, So the only option left here is... I think try my own DIY anodizing project. |

| I've seen a clip in youtube where he used a metallic paint-brand of the paint is 'Duplicolor', the outcome is good and looks like an anodized too,,,not bad for a cheap alternative. I wish ACE has those paints |

| For the hassle, and the risk of having a 'gay' car, I would go with the blue anodising, or the anodised-removed silver...lol
Apart from that, if I spend money on light parts, expensive ones at that, I would be loathe to make them heavier with paint, at the risk of totally messing them up...
Each to his own though, be sure to post up the pics of your handiwork so we can chack out how it went. |
