Yeah, I am gonna try get down there too.....I think I will bring a tourer along....but not a hard-ass one....just a normal car :-)

Ok, do you want the good news or the bad news first??

Ok, bad news first....there is no burger king nearby....and no shop...

The good news.,.......that track is really nice, well at least a darn site better than what we have been using at Area 2.
Why do I say this? Well simply put, there is a lot of space, the drivers stand, although small is great and best of all, the surface is awesome, very grippy, even when it is dusty. Myself, Greg, Dan and Graham had the mini's out, and made a few 'detours' in the track for a really cool mini circuit. It is a lot more open and flowing, and with the addition of a little chicane, made for some really fun racing. With Sport tuned motors in the mini's it will be even better and we could use more of the track. The touring cars can get some really good speeds too using a bit more of the track.

I will get in contact with the 1/5th guys and see how we can work together with getting more facilities at the venue.....

Bottom line, I think we should make every effort to make this the new Dubdrift track....

Has a lot of potential and just to add to Andy's points......

Bad news....... no lights for after dark drifting.
Good news...... it is fenced off from the main car park, so suggests to me the guys who set this up have permission / connections to do what they have done, and I assume we could take the next step and make some improvements. Bigger driver stand, fix some apex on the corners etc.
Best part is the surface is good. I've only been to Al Ain once and it was very slippery, so I'd much rather come here than drive all way to Al Ain.

Maybe this is what we have been looking for all this time, it just needs a bit of work and effort and we could have really good track.

I definitely enjoyed yesterday, great location.

If we can work things out with the 1/5 Guys I would be willing to donate some money to help make the drivers stand a little bigger. If we can get some apex added to the corners it would be great. If not the plates will do for now, but we may need to get a few more.

I think this would make a great new home, or failing that a new place that we can race once of twice a month.

sounds like the track is good for touring... Let's make this happen as winter is right around the corner. It would be great to play our hobbies

Typical, I sell my tourer, then a week later everyone wants to start touring cars !

Its great that everyone has good things to say about this track and as we have -

1- Timing gear
2- A history of at least one successful public event in Automodex
3- lots of members that race every week
4- An active web site

I can't see why anyone would not be excited to work with us.

jebjeb, I checked the knuckles I have against Andy's mini too, but they don't look like they
fit his either. I really don't know if they fit any mini although that's why I brought them. If you can use them then great...... They say they are for M03 and TT01?!?
