PostSubject: Old but New...   Tue Aug 09, 2011 11:32 am

Hello everyone,

I was introduced to RC when I was still a Kid because my Father is working here in Dubai (now same same), and usually a Nikko Remote Control Car is my pasalubong (presents). I remember vividly that my first was a Ferrari F40 1:24 Scale.

At around 12 Years of age, I got my first 1:10 Scale Car which I assembled myself... it was a Tamiya Manta Ray. I was addicted and started assembling for other friends (Marui Samurai was the hardest to assemble). I stopped at around 14 Years old because priority has changed (my eyes started to appreciate Girls over Model Cars, Hehehe), but I got around 5 1:10 Scale Tamiyas. As a side note, I never got my Dream Car... The TAMIYA AVANTE (1988). Even when the Tamiya Avante 2001 came to Dubai, I tried my best to earn money to buy it but I wasn't successful. sad

I came back to that Hobby in 2007 and I bought my first GP, it was a Kyosho FW-05 Chassis. The sad thing is that, I never experienced a real race. At 2009 I shipped all my Stuff back to Philippines because I can't find any friends that were addicted to the hobby as I. I mean, I felt there are no supports to find here in Dubai.

Now that I have a 5 month old kid, priorities have changed again but I still miss the Hobby. To enjoy it, I bought myself a Kyosho Mini-Z AWD so that I can play it even in the comfort of my home. I was thinking of collecting the Auto Scale Bodies.

Last week, I was in Carrefore, I picked up a Magazine (Radio Control Car Action)... a big smile on my face came when I saw an Ad that Tamiya will re-release their Avante this 2011.

Glad I stumbled upon this DubDrift Website. I felt good that there is a Group that enjoys this hobby here in Dubai and mostly Pilipinos. I'm not sure if I can start this Hobby again but keeping myself upto date with the Hobby is a great feeling. This Drift thing is new to me and it looks cool. Maybe one day, I can join you guys and watch. smile Take some Photos as well.

Welcome back to the hobby!

The site is not just for rc drifting but also for all types of surface rc's. Almost all of the guys have drift kits, touring kits and mini-fwd touring kits. Everyone needs a touring kit since we sometimes travel to al ain and race on a proper track. There is also one in meydan but not properly maintaned.. more technical compared to al ain's.

We have our regular drift sessions every friday at 6pm moven pick area.. touring is a bit off right now cause of the climate, we need daylight for touring unlike for drifting any parking light will do.. sometimes till 3am very happy

Anyway hope you could join us soon!

Oh I've been to Al-Ain before and tried the small Race Track. I joined some of the Kabayan with Nitro Touring Cars. Glad to hear that you go there as well. There is also a Dirt Track in Nad Al Sheba. Been there a long time ago. No idea if it's still there.

I really hope I can join soon. I'll try to escape the family and join your Drifting Session. Till 3am huh!? Now that's really fun. Hehehe.

I'll be checking out our local Hobby Shops here to see the current prices. All I need is a Receiver, Servos, ESC and a Kit to get me started. Glad I brought my Radio back here in Dubai to play with my Mini-Z. Hehehe.

Nah... no budget at the moment. Hehehe. That Avante is kinda' expensive. sad

Is there anyone who Race with a Mini-Z here? Or even Drift with them? With this scorching heat, there should be an Indoor Session. smile
