Hi,
Took the heap out for its first run today.

Its running a silver can with a small 2400 Mah Lipo which just about fits. Running with the small Lipo, its so much faster than I was expecting

Hi,

The mystery of the crazy fast sand scorcher has been solved - the silver can I picked wasn't a silver can. I just grabbed a motor from my parts box without paying much attention and have been running the sand scorcher on a 19 Turn motor - I did think the run times weren't very good from the small LIPO.

The motor is being driven by a Tamiya TEU104BK with the 20T gearing so I have been really lucky to get away without frying the ESC Especially as its been driven in soft sand.

I will put a Tamiya Lightly Tuned in now, its about the same RPM as a silver can but has a lot more torque which should keep things moving in the sand.

Action shot looks great Duane! I guess the sand alredy showed how much power you got inside the scorcher.. keep us posted thumbs_up

Hi Jay,
Now that you mention it, looking back at the picture its pretty clear that there is more than a silver can at work. All the time I was driving the car I was thinking back to some threads I had read about people putting 13T brushless motors in Sand Scorchers and thinking 'this thing is crazy fast, why would anyone want something hotter than a silver can in it !'

I was fun though, once the car got up to speed it kind of skipped over the sand like a fast boat goes across the tops of the waves.

Now that I have had time to think about it, it would be nice to keep some of the speed so I will probably do like everyone else and put a 13T hobbywing into it.

I have been trying to get the family to catch a jump on camera, no luck so far but the kids are really enjoying 'helping' ;-) to build the jumps.
