| Thats cheap! I wonder what compound it is, I'm planning to get some slick tires and see if it will give more grip. |

| Jay, those tires are pretty crap....they are REALLY hard, and although that means they will last long, they assume odd shapes and give a weird ride. I reckon for carpet they would be ACE....but tarmac...not so much.
The curse of the mini is shocking tire wear.....and our slippery surfaces make it worse. We have tried a whole bunch of different combinations and I feel that the Tamiya 60D kit tires offer the best grip, but they wear out...quickly.
I have tried slicks too and they dont make THAT much difference, but they last longer. The problem is the Tamiya ones have a very small diameter.
Mini driving requires a 'deft' touch, if you throttle on too quickly, you get tire spin, and cornering on throttle gives th same result. Brake before the corners, and glide through the turns. The massive oversteer off-throttle means you can get around the turn quickly and then ease back on the throttle.
I have yet to find the best tire, but I will say this. If we could spray down the cola on the turns, you would eliminate the dust, and give better grip.....it works well, but might not be well received by the traffic orderlies...
ETA, one way to combat inside wheel spin on turns is to tighten up the diff....easy with a ball diff, not so easy with the geared diff. And as you know, tightening up diffs means less turn in..... |

| No, foams kill the fun a bit. Besides, you think tire wear is bad on the rubber, wait till you see what happens with foam.
I tried out some RIDE Slicks yesterday, they are belted and offered so much grip, the tail kept coming around (I had normal tires on the rear)
I will post a link to them from RCMart, just need to get the part number I ordered...these things are DEF the way forward. |

| These are them..
CLICK ME FOR RIDE TIRES
They are expensive, but they are belted and I reckon they will last twice as long as the tamiya ones....
Tightening and locking diffs is different...as long as there is a diff action, it is not considered locked (i.e if you hold one wheel and turn the other, there must be rotation....in a locked situation, this would not happen.
Ball diffs are easy to tighten, gear diffs are not so easy...you need spacers, shims or grease like gum....or a combination of all three. |

| You could get a ball diff, but I reckon my way is cheaper :-)
THESE might be worth a look into as a tire option, newly arrived at rcmart |

| Andy juz a quick one, do u think the tamiya 48 radials are quite good enough or the 60d soft radials. The later wears off fast and also twice as much as the 48 radials. Please advice. |
