Touring Car, Mini & Drift - All in Al Ain

Hey guys,

We were talking on Saturday about having an away meet at the track in Al Ain. I know we all enjoy the Movenpick area, but it would be an opportunity to get a bit of track time on a purpose built track, not only that, it might be a nice trip for families that want to get out of Dubai since the weather is so good.

Our good friend Bandit knows the people who run/manage the track so I will ask him for the details and set something up. But it would be good to plan ahead so that we can get organised...

Something like this.

Depart DXB -09h00
Set-up - 10h30
Tourer time - 11h00 - 11h30
Drift time - 11h30 - 1200
LUNCH - 12h00 - 12h45
Mini Mayhem - 12h45 - 13h30

Repeat as necessary, or people that want to go see Al-Ain and surrounds with family...

and then go home, or play until we are sick of it or have broken everything....

Anyway, timings are just a suggestion/guideline, we could expand on that.

I am not sure what facilities are available, but maybe we could have a BBQ there if possible and meet up with some of the Al-Ain racers/drifters and the Abu Dhabi guys could join in too!

Maybe after the Eid weekend, or before if we can get it sorted out...

In the interim I will make contact with the right people and see whats up.

I'm not sure, but if I do decide to go, it would be nice to know the track location. Al ain is a big place and I don't think anyone has posted directions.
Google earth shot would be nice? I can't find it.

would suggest that we all meet up at 8:30-8:45 at a gas station or something and then proceed in convoy to al ain...following someone who know where we are going!

is there any available coordinates to the place?

I get back from Qatar late Thursday night. Not too sure if I will make it for a 8:30 convoy so thought I might come by myself ( or with the missus) a little later if at all.

i can meet up with you somewhere in Al AIn and i would gladly guide you to the track ....

im still trying to figure out how to post the location via google earth ...

anyways you guys can call me for any assistance in directions if ever you do get lost

The track is at the Al Ain sportplex right?

If so the GPS co ords are :

FYI ...... there are no benches and tables in the track ...... usually its a bring your own work table and stool type set-up .....

I did talk to Saeed and he confirmed that he'll be sending someone over to open the paddocks so that we have access to the compressor for cleaning purposes .....

an added note ..... there is an off-road track just right across the on-road track for the off-road junkies ....

Strawb, is there a well-known landmark near the track, you could use that as a reference,,...?? Thanks for the call earlier.

Ok guys, as it is fairly late in the proceedings....how many do we think are going up? Show of hands please. It might be useful to know who has transport and who hasnt....
As a meeting point, we may as well meet at Area 2, it is on the Al-Ain rd...at 8am?

hi andy ..... I can either pick you guys up at either Rotana Hotel or HIlton Hotel ...... but coming from Dubai ..... if you just follow the roads .... you'll definitely see Rotana .....

that would be a good place to meet up to avoid confusion ..... if you ask any of the taxis there they can easily give you directions to Rotana .....

i got space in my car for 2-3 guys and a big boot, and andy has offered a space in his car too!

lets see how many guys need transport so we can make sure we have enough cars to get everyone there!

like andy said earlier can everyone who's keen please raise there hands! and post wether you need a ride or have any empty seats in your cars
