PostSubject: hello there   Sun Nov 08, 2009 11:26 pm

hi gents,
i used to be an active 1/10 nitro racer in manila from 2002-2005. racing in speedzone, mang's track in capitolyo, pinagbuhatan pasig, montalban race track and of course the popular jp race track. i miss those days smelling nitro fuel every race. now i am based in fujairah since 2006 and i wanted to go back into rc hobby. i am not sure if there are 1/10 nitro touring car racing in uae, i can see that most are into rc drifting which i am very much interested to join. i have not tried rc drifting so i wanted to ask everyone what would be a good car that you can recommend to start with and later on can also be used in racing. looking forward to meeting all of you soon and be part of the group. cheers1 smile bounce

Welcome!..not only to Dubdrift, but also to the world of non-smelly, dirty, noisy electric RC.. smile
I am sure the drifters here will offer you plenty of advice on what kit to get and have a hunt through the forums, there are already a few threads with the pro's and con's of the available cars. There are a few shops here that have taken to offering the HPI Drift ready-sets, which might make the entry into drifting a little easier...

As far as nitro goes, I reckon the Al-Ainguys with their track at the motor city will be avid nitro tourers, but Dubai is an unknown entity for the on-roaders. The Nitro buggy guys meet at Nad Al Sheba but the racing is not as organised as it used to be...

Good luck!

welcome to dubdrift fuzzy, have tried runnin at capitolyo and parksquare not on nitros but with a tt01 back in 2003 lol it was my 1st kit, at that time it was the latest and the best kit to start with as the people at lils say clown

anyway heres a link that might help you out in choosing a kit for drifting..

hello cathurga and altimeters,
thank you for the welcome smile i have read your post on the different kits to consider in drifting. i think tamiya is a good choice since they have a number of shops around in dubai for parts support. i like the term, world of non-smelly, dirty, noisy electric RC smile . though i was first introduced to nitro and i had fun racing those days. this time i want to try ep drifting since most are into it.
