PostSubject: Guys, help me out please!   Sun Nov 22, 2009 5:11 pm

Heya, so after coming to drift with you guys, I've figured out problems that need to be fixed. I'll be very vereh grateful.
Problem one, very short run times. By the time I get started, the car is only operating at half power. Not only that, I don't get to "enjoy". It quickly turns into more work than fun.

Problem two, drift tires. As some of you may have noticed...My drift "tires" were weird. I know how T-drifts and Driftechs beat the life out of all the other tires, I've been thinking about the costs that will turn up in the long run. Because I drift very frequently (I don't know about you guys, I mean, jobs and all), so I will be shredding through tires. And the tires (driftechs) I bought from some friendly person yesterday (crap! forgot the name! Sorry) already seem to be showing signs of wear-and-tear. So I've been thinking of a cheap and decent alternative. ABS, it doesn't fill your chassis with dust, it's got a decent grip:slip ratio, it's cheap, and based on costs, the lifetime is brilliant in my opinion. I dare you to open this link and to give me an opinion.

A few people thought my radio system was weird, but meh, that's not anywhere near the top of my wishlist. Anyone tried this? It's futaba, it comes with an s3003, those things are neat. And the cost is decent.
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/rc-radio-futaba-channel-control-system-am27mhz-2pham-p-24103.html

Until I resolve these issues, It's pointless to get hop ups for my chassis. Really desperate here, so serious help required.
THANKS!

solution 1: sorry i was not able to attend yesterdays meet. hope you find the guys there to be helpful and all.

get a lipo battery, lipo charger, brushless system (ESC and motor) and your good to go! definitely you will enjoy your run time smile

solution2: if you want to drift longer using t-drifts or superD's, use in marble or flat surface and not in asphalt.
if you opt to change your tires frequently, you will not muster your drift properly as you will have to adjust most of the times. so i suggest getting a decent drift tires. worn out tires is the price you pay for drifting frequently... but its all the effort and your skills will greatly improve

solution3: people are now turning to 2.4's... long gone are the FM's smile

as i have said in my previous post... this hobby is not cheap, you go for cheap crap, you'll get cheap performance. smile

correct jebjeb.. Abdul dont worry about tires wearing out.. I just started RC and my tires are shredded.. Save up to get tires. Thats what im doing.. or go PVC pipe style.. I heard its good.. I know what ur going thru cause i just started as well and im still trying to practice my TT-01 e.. just as you are..

Like JebJeb said, Cheap Gear means Cheap Performance.. and I agree

Slicc

P.S. Ask around the site.. People are selling stuff everyday.. u might find what you need..

Thanks a lot guys,
jebjeb, yeah, this place is awesome.

I don't know a heck lot about lipos, a few rc mart links appreciated =D
I'm also thinking of ball racing my chassis, according to my little theory, less friction = less heat = less energy wasted = more run/fun time.

Do brushless sytems give longer run times? Didn't know they did O_O

As for the tires...I'll do what's best, experiment. Don't you two agree?

ok, basic things you need to drift and slide

1. Drift tires

the rest are up to you..

hehe..

tires: get some decent drift tires, two (2) sets at the least. up to you which brand you want to stick with but i'm on HPI's T-drifts. if you can get those sushi tires, i'd love to buy a set from you and try it out myself.

batteries: if you are not into li-po batts, better get more Ni-Mh's then. just take good care of them so they last long. in the long run, li-po batts will prove to be a better choice with regards to performance and life (if properly used). here's one that I have:

http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/rc-batterylipo-3racing-batl370025-lipo-3700-battery-p-27712.html?cPath=52_973

but they're out..

more here:

http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/battery-charger-batterylipo-c-52_973.html?page=1&sort=1a

bearings: your equations are correct. so go get some.

other hop-ups: it's really up to you on how much hop-ups you want to put in your kit. anyways, it's yours.

hope these help. Good luck.

1: Li-po batts will solve your run-time problem. Just don't forget that it requires a li-po charger.
You might also wants to switch to deans-plug connectors; as it can handle a lot more current than the regular tamiya plugs.
As for the Brushless system, I don't think you'll be needing that just yet.
Brushless systems do give a bigger punch (plus it's almost maintenance-free). But it does eat a lot more from your battery.
Stick to what you have. Get the hang of your drift style. And enjoy.

2: Feel free to use any other types of drift tires.
Just try to keep these tips in mind.
- it drifts
- matches the performance of branded drift tires
- you feel comfortable with it
- price doesn't punch a hole in your wallet
You don't really HAVE to use Driftech or TDrift.
We advise at first because it is commonly used by drifters.
Once you know how drift tires are suppose to perform, don't be afraid to mix and match.
The world is your oyster.

3: The 2PL is a great digital controller to start with.
The problem might be...
- glitch with another driver
- ESC/Transmitter is not set-up correctly.
- Receiver is very near to motor.
You might also wants to check if the connections of the crystals are clean (no dusts or whatnot)

Hope this helps you sir. Good luck =)

If I was you, I would go for the LiPo.
You should read this thread,
http://www.dubdrift.com/technical-discussion-f5/battery-system-t88-15.htm?highlight=lipo
But the bottom line with LiPo is if you treat the with respect and (most important) charge them with a LiPo charger and don't over discharge them, then they are the best way to go and will give the best 'bang for your buck'.

Hmm...Thanks Josh.
Seeing as I'm illeterate when it comes to LiPo's can you review this stuff for me by looking at these links? What exactly do I need to buy to fit these things onto my tt01E?

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-EC-POWER-5000mAh-7-4V-15C-LIPO-li-po-Battery-akku-U_W0QQitemZ180435803312QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_Control_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2a02cfdcb0

It looks VERY good...

The charger:

http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/rc-charger-lipo-only-henergy-super-intelligent-battery-pack-balanced-ycb05mv-p-24658.html?cPath=52_1269

The two of them should work, I think. What about the connectors? I mean, to connect the battery to the car?
I don't care if the battery isn't 100% awesome, but as long as it gives me around 20-35 minutes of drifting. And it can be re used for half a year.

I had a look at that LiPo. I would advise against it.
You should only use a Lipo that has a hard case, and this one looks like it is only soft case....thats why it is so cheap.
With soft case Lipo, if you have bad crash and the battery gets punctured, it will most could catch on fire. Thats why all LiPo for cars needs to be hard case.
The charger you linked to is out of stock.
Why don't you try this.

I don't think any one has tried the Susumu batteries, but usually anything from RC Mart is good.
You can see the battery hard case? very important.

Have a look at this please

.....................
Other than that, I found something rehehehehally awesome.

Hey Adbul,

I'll have to agree with sir Greg about the 'hard case'.
It may be cheap, but after a bad crash, you might end up spending a lot more than you expected.

There are a few combos available at RCmart.
