| Hey All,
Abdul, for starters, you are asking the right questions, and the people here are providing you with good answers.
Before I offer any advise on what to get, I would rather suggest what to do, in a nice way. If I remember, you are still a young lad of about 15 yrs, right? That being the case, I would ask you to get a parent involved, or maybe a big brother, older friend maybe. I am not saying this to belittle you, but more to ensure that you enjoy the hobby without torching your parents house, injuring yourself or even that you get the wrong stuff and start hating the hobby because of frustration. Realise that this hobby costs a lot of money to set up, and I am pretty sure you dont have a steady income at the moment, so your finds will come from your relatives....let them know what you are getting into...
I ask this in a friendly manner and am MORE than willing to sit with you and your parents and go over what needs to be done...ask them to come down to a drift meet, and they will learn a lot.
Lipo is awesome, but there are some rules to make it safe Nimh is good, but there are some rules to make it safe.
The rules to Lipo, are different to Nimh, and this is where the problems come in.
Let me know if you can get a parent involved, and I will impart the knowledge to you, and them. |

| Jebjeb, I would, but it's cheaper off of rcmart. I mean, the very same battery. And I think Rcmart offers discounts when you buy lots of stuff. .josh, people on an england forum told me that the hard case doesn't really matter, it won't go boom or catch fire unless you charge it like an idiot using the wrong charger, or power. |

| jebjeb is correct the cost when you order online is almost the same as JJ. If you order online you have to wait for 2 week to have the item & JJ is already there al you have to do is tell ian to that you get it the saturday you will have it. |

| Not being rude, but it is a chunk more than what it would cost if I bought it from Rcmart. Plus, I'd rather be patient and save some money than getting it immediately and spending some. That's just me though. Anywho. Thanks guys. |

| ...and remember to factor in shipping, rcmarts magical non-refundable bank charges as well as the not so nice paypal conversion rate....
the people on the england forum are not entirely correct about the hardcase issue, a damaged lipo CAN and WILL cause a fire if there is a cell rupture. Any battery vendor worth their salt will advise you to properly dispose of damaged lipo's.
Incorrectly charging lipo's WILL cause a fire if left unattended. Exceeding a lipo discharge rating CAN cause a fire.
Since you are reading other forums, take a look at some respectable racing clubs rules and regulations for race day....some are a bit anal, but ALL of them will prevent accidents which have liabilities! Examples...
EVERYONE HAS to hand in their transmitter at the START of race day. NO transmitter are allowed to be operated during a race, apart from the cars on track NO LIPO CHARGING IS ALLOWED in the pit lane (In some cases, no charging is allowed on race day, you have to bring charged packs to last the day or until a charging station is opened) NO charging of Lipo's is allowed without a lipo charging bag, and that has to be on a solid platform or container (brick, steel tray or similar)
So now, in the US and the UK and most Euro or Asian events there are LAWS of which a governing body has to enforce. ROAR, IFMAAR, AMA are all examples. This is for insurance purposes where claims for being stupid, irresponsible and negligent can be refuted or substantiated.
We have no laws here, and our weekly gathering is not overseen by anyone other than responsible adults. If someone were to get injured by a lipo fire, exploding cell or a runaway car there would be repercussions, needless to say, your parents/guardians would probably want to point a finger at someone.
We all want to enjoy this hobby, we will all offer advice. All you need to do is take that advice and use it, I strongly recommend you do. You will reap the benefits.
I am not being pedantic, but your parents wont allow you to buy a hobby knife, yet you want to put a potentially dangerous chemical reaction in their home.
Please be careful, and know what you are dealing with.
Our youngest member here, Eathan, has all the support of his dad, he is a very good drifter, and I believe he understands what he is dealing with. A good example.
Lecture over. |

| CATHURGA! Really sorry dude, just didn't even see your comment. Thanks for that offer. Trouble is, dad won't be here for this Saturday (we doing to this saturday, yeah?), he's going on yet another..business trip. You seriously made me "wow", when you said that you're more than willing to sit with my dad or someone to have a chat about the hobby. People on this forum are really nice It'd be awesome if you did that, and my dad said he will come down to the track some day, when there is a more "serious" (competition type) meet. He is extremely money friendly when it comes to things that are educational and stuff. Like...he is interested in computers, and he knows computers can be re-he-heally educational. So any computer related thing I ask for, I get. But when it comes down to Rc, he says don't take it seriously. It's something you should do in your spare time...Focus on your studies, focus more on health. I don't blame him, I'm sure a lot of parents do that. If I can prove him wrong, I'm sure he'll be very interested in RC's and stuff himself. He owns a showroom himself, so he's fascinated by cars, that's not the problem... Thanks a lot guys! |

| thanks again. Yeah, better to be safe than sorry. About the hobby knife, what are you talking about? I got one right here. I posted it on the foruns because I couldn't find one in stores, but than I checked out Ace and got a pretty good one. As for being responsible, I'd like to think I'm good at that. I've owned/have lots of airsoft weapons, can't remember being bad with those. I used to have a go kart, still got my limbs joint to be body even though it never experienced a track day in my life. The worst things I've ever experienced with the two things stated above, is that I once got a teeny cut because of the recoil on my friends Marui. And I once peeled a bit skin when I towed my go kart back home.
Not much at all ^.^ |

| No worries....I am the opposite, highly irresponsible, will try anything and as a result most of what I have learned has been the hard way...lessons learned the hard way, are lessons learned well.... |

| Lol cathurda. Deep inside, I don't want to be repsonsible. It's just that responsibility leads to authority, respect and best of all...GIFTS! But yeah, I try to be cautious when it comes to safety... |

| Abdul,
This charger does not plug directly into a wall socket as it requires a 12 volt power supply.
You have 2 ways of getting a 12 volt power supply for the charger:
1: you can hook it up to a car battery (already 12 volts) with the alligator clips provided
2: you need to get an additional power supply which will convert the 220volts in a normal plug to 12 volts - I POWER supply |
