PostSubject: Rounded Screw Heads   Thu Dec 10, 2009 11:19 am

Hi ..... by some unfortunate fate ..... i was too excited tightening the ball differentials of my TB-03D that i accidentally rounded off the screw heads in one of the screws of the cover of the motor gear box ...... now i cant make my philips screw driver grip the screw to torque it open thus leaving the screw stuck ...... its ok as of now cos i can run the car but in the future if i want to do any adjustments i believe this may become a problem for me .....

has anybody here been thru the same dilemma? if so what were your solutions ....

the screw is attached to the chassis near the motor ....

any advice ..... tips will be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

aka .... in tagalog ...... bumilog po yung turnilyo .... hindi ko mapihit?

you can try using a drill to remove the head of the screw..
be careful not to damage anything else aside from the screw's head..
just drill until it's relatively easy to pull out.. there's no way to save this screw..
when it's out, you can use a pair of pliers to turn the remaining part of the screw out..

hope it helps..

thanks for the fast reply .... problem is that the screw is flushed with the body ..... meaning the screw is not protruding out ...... flat screw .....

you have to take out the part attached to the chassis..
i'm guessing it's the bulkhead you are pertaining to..
try removing all the screws attaching it then drill the problem screw..
there should be enough protrusion to hold on to with pliers..

post a pic so we can see the prob..

i'll try to post a pic later sir ....... its actually the cover near the motor ...... you need to remove the gear covers before you can open the differential covers .....

the screw is screwed to the cover and the chasis

ahhhh.. ok..

try the drill method.. i'm sure it'll work.. just remember to bore it just enough so you can still clip the remaining part of the screw with pliers afterwards.. it's not as flush as you think bro..

good luck man..

hmmmnn.. this thread looks like a PM.. only, all of them can read it.. hahaha!
