PostSubject: TT01 FDR Setup chart   Fri Dec 18, 2009 8:44 pm

Found this on the net, thought it was a nice and simple gearing chart for the TT01.

Shows the part numbers for spurs and pinions, as well as which mounting holes to use.

Might come in handy for anyone planning racing GT with a TT01

Adbull

Theres loads of these kinda charts out there for different cars....this one is nice cause it goes beyond the range of tamiyas recommended gearing....

Anyway the tt-01e manual definitely doesn't have anything in it, hence why i was looking for it...

Whats nice here is shows the motor mounting postions for pinions bigger than 22T (where the tamiya manual stops) to ensure correct gear mesh....

Ahh, I see, will save one of these on my computer, very helpful. I just saw my FDR sheet, it's something I got off the internet but this one is better. Do you drift by the way?
Sorry for that last OT question.
Cheers!

The last 3 part numbers for pinions are Robinson Racing pinions. They are hardened steel and last a LOT longer....in fact as a rule, everyone should throw away the nasty Tamiya AV pinions....they are absolute trash, they wear badly and the wear impacts the spur as well.

The last 3 FDR's I would not run on a normal track with a silver can, geared WAAAY to high. With a run up though, you would get some wicked top speed....

Agreed, the thread where i found this mention that those last 4 gearings are for straight high speed tracks....

the guys was also going on about the silver can have a sweet spot with and FDR of between 5 and 5.5....not sure if he meant melting point instead of sweet spot....hahahaha

I have tried to find the thread again so that i could post the link for you guys to see, but i just cant seem to get back to it....

Yeah, I reckon an FDR of 5.5 on a track like Al-Ain would be good, maybe even 5, and on a winter morning you are less likely to overheat it....

Sorry OT here...

My plan was to get into drifting originally, and tried it for a bit but wasn't any good at it, then the guys started talking about some GT racing, so i figured i would rather put my tt01 to good use there...offroad is still where my heart is...

Sorry, OT here too.
Spend some time drifting, it takes some time to get used to the near zero-friction.
It's FUN.

i second that, w are both offroaders at heart, our kits spend more time in the air then they do on the ground, and more time on full throtlle then blipping

mann, maybe i shud get a tt-01 just to mess around at home, miss those easy goin days
