| How exactly do you OD/CS? I know that the rear wheels are supposed to spin faster than the front wheels...But how many teeth do you want on your rear pully, etc?
And how exactly do you calculate your CS/OD ratio? Like...3:1 (everytime the rear wheels spin 3 times, the front wheels spin once)....?
For a belt driven chassis obviously...

| Chardiboi...I couldn't find out how to calculate the ratios... J.Drift...Oops..Should have used that. Sorry. AdBull. |

| To calculate your internal drive ratio (IDR), suppose for your new TA05, take the nT of the driven pulley (diff or FOW or spool) and divide it by the nT of the driver pulley (center pulley).. 36/16 = 2.25 to calculate your drive ratio, take the nT (numberof teeth) of the spur and divide it by the nT of your pinion.. 70/22 = 3.18 now to get your final drive ratio (FDR), multiply the two quotients.. 2.25 * 3.18 = 7.155 for the ratio of the front and rear, just compute for the IDR separately.. Now, if you're really considering an OD mod, consider your car's rear IDR in computing for your FDR.. My set-up before: F: 40/16 = 2.5 R: 32/25 = 1.28 1.95~2:1 i wanted to achieve an FDR closest to 7.0 as possible so i had to adjust on my spur and pinion.. instead of the using a 105T, i had to use a 108T spur (the biggest diameter possible for the motor mount) and a 22T pinion.. FDR = 6.28 It was really, really counter-steering.. very good on long drifts as well.. you can try and experiment on different combination of pulleys.. if not happy with the results, try another one.. Now where are those DIYs that you were mentioning before? I'm starting to sound like a professor each time I answer your question here.. i now feel like it's my calling to teach..i should've taken some units in education..

| The FDR of the front and rear have to be as far apart as possible. Kits have certain limitations with the gears and belts being used.
@Abdul It's good to experience, but don't you think you're entering the OD scene a bit too early? Drifting style with regards to regular FDRs vs OD are completely different.
Well. good luck to you on the project. =) |

| Another bad thing about OD setup is that you'll need to do some toe-in/out adjustments.
This means that your tires will wear out unevenly. Plus since you're rear tires will be spinning more, you'll be replacing more rear tires that front.
I don't mind trying out OD. But that'll be a future plan. =) |

| josh is right
before you make a plan for OD /CS you must learn the basic drift the if you are keen to the next level thats the time to plan it
just an advice  |

| It does make a difference if you are beginner or a long time drifter. Because, you will know how to react in certain situations. You will also understand better which setup best suits you.
Having a good foundation is always better than having nothing at all. Correct?
Drifting is NOT about looking good... Drifting is the holy grail of car control. It is about how well you can control a car while going sideways. |

| +10000 to Sir Josh...
@Abdul --- I had an Xray T2 '08 before which I tried to do an OD setup, too bad I only had 2 choices for the spur plus the fact that the ratio was not that much and if you tried using a sensorless brushless system with OD setup you would surely feel the "lag"....
You should be able to "feel" the reaction of your car and you'll learn this thru constant practice and alot of patience....just my 2cents :study: |
