I'm keen to join this time, but I don't really have a preference. I vote for the 5th, so maybe we will have time for another visit before it gets too hot........

Sorry guys, I'm a bit late in joining this thread.
Since I'm new to this forum and plan to drive along with my electric touring car, I have several questions:
- Do you have limitations on the body used? GT = 2 doors, touring cars = 4 doors.
- When using 19T (brushed) motor, what class will that be?
- What is the duration of a heat?
- How many heats in a race day? I have only 3 batteries, the old fashion NiMh.

Tx guys, see you in Al Ain then. bounce

Hey Mister-e,

Good to have you aboard....

That link could give you a better idea, but I believe that the 19T will fall into the outlaw class with all the brushless nutters smile
Knowing your skills and experience, you will do very well in that class. From a bodyshell perspective, I dont think we can put any limitations on that right now.....but as more people become interested, we will DEFINATELY have to start laying down some ground rules and making sure people are in the class that represents their setup.

For now though the classes are fairly simple.

Hi Jebjeb,

Tx for the link.
I made already my remarks on both nitro and electric.
Nitro on road 190mm body shell???? I think they are all 200mm.

Hi Cathurga, nice to see you again in Al Ain.
It has been a while.
Are you running touring cars as well at the Movenpick area?

19T equals to outlaw class, fair enough to me.

For Al Ain, I think 19T (the old fashion brushed motor) is the right motor choice.
This will provide you sufficient speed without getting bored, while driving your lines on the track. Instead of trying to keep your car on the track.
As I have experienced, first have a car that handles well by tuning and driving it properly.
Then when you can get rid of all kind of glitches (including between your ears), then pick up some speed.

smile

Hi Vinesh,

Nice to hear from you again.
Yes, it has been a while....

Come along with the on road tour the next time.
Yes, you have to drive a long way. All the way to Al Ain :affraid:

Mister-e, the last two sentences of your comments above, should be the MANTRA of the touring class.

I will enter the stock class with my 27T mystery motor in the TB03, which yesterday seemed pretty quick, but will be fairly pedestrian on the Al-Ain track OR the GT-Tuned in the TB Evo 4. Whichever one is better in stock class will become my 'weapon of choice' and the other will be put into action in the stock class with either the 9T or the 13T Hobbywing.

I think the two classes are a great mix between silly-fast and fun-competitive. Shells have no bearing as I am not expecting to see top-class racers on the Automodex event, although, we could get a decent turnout! which will be awesome!

Is Al-Ain confirmed for the 5th of Feb???? I now Paul might not make it....but then that gives us another reason to go again later in the month.

I have ordered some more transponders, as well as another decoder, so we need to start setting up a race agenda....I will do this on the laptop before we go, so that we can do some proper racing!

Cathurga,

Looking forward to that. I'm in for the 5-th.
Are you using the AMB personal transponder?
I have it, but don't know whether it is usable for your system.
Otherwise, is it possible to borrow one for the day?

Tx!

Mister-e, no it is not the AMB, but it is compatible, so bring your unit down smile

Paul, that sucks, but not to worry, if you need people to go up with on another day, I am pretty sure you wont have a problem getting some takers...
