The person a speak of, when you saw his tradename on an Ebay bid, you backed off immediately....it was his, regardless of how bad you wanted it.
The pics I have seen include warehouse type shelving, individual bags for each item and climate & humidity control....

Another guy who I have traded with has sent me some of his collection in pics, and it is just awesome, a great guy whose history and story is quite inspirational....

Makes our toy rooms look a little sad....

Yeah, but only has a few vintage goodies....a few SRB's, a Bruiser and some minor NIB kits...otherwise it is all RUNNERS....I haven't update my showroom on TC for years...need to renew my subscription...

I had quite a collection at one point, but I have sold most of it on.....I have just kept the ones that ere most important to me.
You cannot start collecting unless you are collecting for the love of detail, the quality of the products and most importantly, for the memories. If you think you are going to collect as an 'investment' or to 'sell at profit' you are sorely mistaken....

If you have the means, and the place to store it, it is great. My biggest regret is that I never looked after the stuff I had as a kid...in that guys showroom I had 7 of those that I can see off hand.....and I still have 3.....most of the others are gone...
I get more of a kick out of building and driving them now.....
Years ago you could buy and sell for decent profit....not any more...now you have to want to collect them.....

The bad part is that you are ALWAYS tempted to build them..

my uncle still has his fully restored to Mint condition (practically nw in box) Tamiya Frog Buggy - i think thats what its called, from the 1980's

Yep, the frog was released in the mid-80's, and it has been re-released about 3-4 years ago. As with most re-release kits, there are some subtle differences, but in essence, the same car.

People buy them purely for the nostalgia, the re-release of the Sand Scorcher has angered a lot pf purists, because they used the Monster Beetle Body.....some of the collectors are mad because they believed the value would drop, but now it seems the original body kits have seen prices skyrocket...saw an NIB Scorcher go for over US$1800 before..

Strange hobby....toys they are not...

i really really really really really like the scorcher for its baja 1000 origins, god i love that race, its like an offroad Le-mans to me, only with real racing.....not cowards on tracks that go around and around, the baja and the Dakar are real men's races
