They're both the same if you're talking about overall performance.

It's just that the 7.5 motor is more powerful than the 8.5 one in stock

More power = longer drifts

I have the 8.5t slydr motor and all is good. +)

actually, josh originally wanted the 7.5 but was not available at the time of his purchase so he opted for the 8.5..

me and jay have the 7.5..

i chose the 7.5 because among the three (6.5, 7.5 and 8.5) because it is the most efficient.. good balance between power and energy consumption..
that's just me..
